All four finishes are used on our garden rooms. The right one depends on the look you want, how much maintenance you are willing to take on, and how the building will sit against your house and garden.

Corrugated metal

The boldest of the four. Best for a striking contemporary or agricultural look with the least ongoing upkeep. There is no annual staining, oiling or repainting, it holds its colour, and it can continue over a pitched roof. Choose it when you want the garden room to be a feature rather than to blend in.

Timber and cedar

Best for a natural, warm appearance and for matching existing fencing, outbuildings or period properties. Both need periodic treatment, and cedar will silver over time unless it is treated, which some homeowners want and others do not. Choose either when you want the building to soften into mature planting.

Composite

Best for a clean, uniform finish with low maintenance and consistent colour. It sits between timber and metal in character, and it pairs well with metal where you want to break up a long elevation.

Many of our clients combine two of these finishes on a single building, using metal on the elevations they want to make a statement of and timber or cedar on the side they see most from the house. Our design team will bring material samples to your site visit so you can see them against your property before deciding.

How Much Does a Corrugated Metal Garden Room Cost?

Every building is designed from scratch, so we price each project individually rather than working from a fixed list. The main factors that move the cost are:

Size and layout. Footprint, ceiling height and whether the interior is one open space or divided into rooms.
Glazing. The size and type of doors and windows, and how much of the elevation is glass.

We are a Sussex-based garden room builder covering Sussex, Surrey and the surrounding areas. Our team has been building in the heart of Sussex since 2008 and includes our own architectural technician, who oversees planning applications, so design, planning, build and finish are all handled under one roof.

We do not sell flat-pack garden rooms and we steer well clear of plastic interiors. Changing the size or colour of a mass-produced structure is not bespoke. Our carpenters finish every piece by hand, and we run apprentice carpentry schemes each year to keep those skills in the business.

1. Consultation

A member of our team will contact you to talk through your plans, then book a site visit. We bring material samples and images of previous builds so you can see the finishes in your own garden, against your own house, before you decide anything.

2. Design

We survey the space and produce a CAD design with a list of proposed specifications and costs. We welcome feedback and keep adjusting until you are completely happy with both the design and the price. Once you are, we schedule your build into our diary.

3. Build

Depending on size, it usually takes two to four weeks to erect and decorate your garden room. Most of the work happens on site, with some elements built at our Sussex workshop. On completion we advise you on how to look after the building to get the longest life from it.
