We want to share a short video tour of a granny annexe which we have recently completed in the Kent countryside. As you will see, we have fitted all the essentials for a comfortable one bed apartment in the garden.
The Living Space
This granny annexe sits on a footprint of 5.2 metres by 5.2 metres and contains a large open plan living space. The entire building has been insulated to meet building regulations, making the space cool in the summer and cosy during the colder months. The room has a plastered & painted finish, and is complete with spotlights and a moisture-resistant laminate flooring. The annexe owners have enough space for a double-bed and a corner seating area.
Within the L-shaped living space is a sleek kitchen area complete with oven, extractor fan, sink and fridge.
We installed a bathroom within the granny annexe so that the entire building is self-contained from the main house. This smart bathroom has a corner shower unit, an electric shower, toilet and basin.
Our design includes an adjoining shed with a separate entrance. This feature has given the owners valuable storage space for hiding away gardening tools.
Use of the Granny Annexe
This particular granny annexe will be used as a holiday let. We have created a multi-functional garden building that contains all of the practical features one needs for a comfortable stay. As all of our designs are unique, this granny annexe can be adapted to fit in any garden. It is a perfect space for housing an elderly relative or for giving an older child an independent space to live. Alternatively, you may just want to use the building as an impressive occasional guest room!
