Garden Room Workshop with Unique OSB Walls
OSB has become somewhat on-trend in the world of bespoke furniture and kitchens. It is frequently featured as a material used by designers in property and house renovation television programmes. The design team at Miniature Manors opted to use OSB on the interior of one of their bespoke garden room designs. Although OSB can look great, there were also practical reasons behind this decision.
Our team designed and hand-crafted this 6.2 metre by 4.5 garden room for a jewellery maker, who had been renting a workshop to run his business. He decided to invest in our one our garden rooms, as we offer a bespoke design service that allowed him to have a workspace tailored to his professional requirements.
After having a thorough discussion with our client, our team suggested using OSB as the material for the internal walls. In a workshop where dust can be created, the OSB is less likely to show dirt compared to a white wall. It is also a strong, durable material that is a low cost alternative to the usual plastered and painted finish. It has a raw, industrial feel that compliments the surrounding workshop environment:
You may wish to consider using OSB on the interior walls of your garden room if it will be used as a workshop. You will not need to compromise on the high level of insulation that we use, and can opt to plaster and paint the structure if you decide to use it for something else further down the line.
The external finish of the garden room workshop is smart and professional for visiting clients. We clad the exterior walls in red western cedar, and chose black framed double-glazed doors and windows. The building looks very inviting at the end of the garden!
