Setting up a Craft Business from Home
Happy New Year from the Miniature Manors team! We noticed that many of our loved ones used independent online retailers to purchase their Christmas gifts this year. The popularity of websites such as Etsy and Not On The High Street means that many self-employed crafters are turning to the internet to sell their lovingly hand-crafted goods.
If you run your business from home it is important to have a dedicated work space, especially during busy periods like Christmas. Our Garden Rooms and Garden Offices can be adapted to create an exclusive space where you can run your craft business in style.
A Workspace as Unique as Your Craft
All of our Garden Rooms and Offices are custom-designed to our customer’s preferred specifications. Whether you are a card maker, a seamstress, a painter or a woodworker our Garden Buildings are made to reflect you and your unique business. Not only can we build the structure to the size of your choice, but you can also choose between contemporary or traditional finishes.
Practical Features for Home Workers
We can include practical features on our bespoke Garden Rooms so that you can work from home in comfort. If your work is particularly messy, why not consider having hygienic uPVC boarding on your interior walls? They can easily be wiped clean at the end of the working day. Alternatively, you may wish to have OSB to hide any dust as featured on this workshop that we built for a jewellery maker in Surrey:
If you require an area to clean your equipment, save yourself the walk back to your house by having a washing up area installed. We can include separate bathrooms and sinks in our garden buildings to create the ultimate self-contained workshop.
Secure Storage for Your Hand-crafted Goods
Safely storing your handmade items is incredibly important, especially when orders have been placed and paid for! The doors and windows on our Garden Rooms are the same as you would have at home - double-glazed with insurance recognised locks. We can also build separate storage areas into our Garden Rooms, so you can have a dedicated space for locking away materials and equipment.
Lighting and Electrics
You may wish to maximise the amount of natural light that enters your garden workshop, why not opt for skylights or larger windows? If you have lots of electrical equipment that needs to be plugged in, let us know and we will include additional power points in your build.
If you are looking to set up a craft business in a Garden Room, we hope that these ideas inspire you to create a working environment that increases productivity, and more importantly the individuality of your work! We work in Sussex, Surrey and Kent so if you are a local craftsman in need of a professional working environment, get in touch for your free design and quotation.
